HOW IT WORKS

Four Steps, From the Counter to the Last EMI

The short version. The questions below go into the detail.

01

Enroll at the counter

The shop enrolls the phone in the Loksiz retailer app before the customer leaves. Shops get enrollment-only access.

02

Link it to the loan

Your system tells Loksiz about the loan through our API, so the phone's status always follows its EMIs.

03

Remind, then restrict

Customers get reminders first. Only accounts that stay overdue past your rules are restricted, and calls and SOS keep working.

04

Unlock and release

Payments unlock the phone automatically, usually within seconds. When the loan closes, the phone is released for good.

Your customers ask

Loksiz is the software your lender or shop uses to keep a financed phone linked to its loan. It sends you reminders before your EMI is due, and it can restrict the phone if payments stay unpaid for a long time. Pay on time and you'll barely notice it's there.

That message appears because the phone was enrolled in Loksiz when you bought it on EMI. It's Android's standard way of telling you that a company, in this case your lender, can manage some settings on the phone. It doesn't mean anyone can see your personal data.

Yes. The lender's or shop's name can appear on the phone, including on the reminder and payment screens, so customers know exactly who to contact. There's a character limit on the name, so short names work best.

No. The message is only about who manages the phone's settings while the loan is running. Who owns the phone, and when, is set out in your loan agreement. Once the loan is fully paid, the phone is released and is completely yours.

Yes. While your EMIs are up to date, you can install and use apps as normal from the Play Store. Restrictions only come into play if payments stay overdue.

Yes. Everyday apps work normally on an enrolled phone as long as your account is in good standing.

On a phone enrolled when it's new, banking and UPI apps should work as usual. A few banking apps are strict about managed phones and may behave differently on phones enrolled after they were already in use. If one of yours doesn't open, tell your shop or lender so we can look into it.

You won't need anyone's permission to install it, but we can't promise every APK will work on an enrolled phone. For your own safety, it's best to stick to the Play Store.

No, Loksiz doesn't lock your date and time settings. We do recommend keeping automatic date and time switched on, because a wrong date can confuse finance and payment apps and can delay reminders and status updates.

Yes. Loksiz doesn't block the internet. In fact, the phone needs a connection now and then to receive reminders and to unlock quickly after you pay.

Your lender confirms the loan is closed and Loksiz releases the phone. Reminders stop, all restrictions are removed and the management is handed back, so it becomes a normal phone that's fully yours. In India, lenders must also tell you how to remove the locking software.

Locking and unlocking

Almost always because an EMI is overdue and has stayed unpaid past the grace period your lender has set. The restriction screen shows the amount due and how to pay. If you think it's a mistake, contact your lender straight away with your payment details.

No. You'll get reminders first. Each lender sets its own steps, but in India the rules are clear: no restriction at all for the first 30 days overdue, only gradual restrictions after that, and a full lock only after 60 days, with notice before anything happens.

Yes. Loksiz sends reminders before the due date and after it, as notifications, on-screen messages and, where your lender uses them, SMS or voice calls. You'll always know what's due and how to pay before your phone is touched.

Incoming calls, SMS and emergency SOS always keep working, and you can always open the payment screen. In India, apps you need for work must stay available too. Most other apps are paused until the dues are cleared.

Only your lender's authorised team, through the Loksiz dashboard or their own systems connected to it. Shop staff who enrolled the phone usually can't lock or unlock it themselves.

Unlocking lifts a restriction after you pay, but the phone stays linked to the loan until it's finished. Releasing happens once the loan is fully paid: Loksiz steps away for good, and the phone is no longer managed at all.

Usually within seconds of your payment being confirmed, as long as the phone is online. In India, lenders must unlock within one hour of receiving the payment, and Loksiz is built to beat that comfortably.

First, make sure the phone is connected to Wi-Fi or mobile data and restart it. If it's still locked, contact your shop or lender. They can request an offline unlock code from the central team, which works even without an internet connection.

Contact your lender again with the code you were given and a photo of the screen. They'll pass it straight to Loksiz technical support to sort out.

Connect the phone to the internet and restart it. If it's still locked, contact your lender, who will raise it with Loksiz support as a priority.

Yes. Commands sent while your phone is offline wait and run as soon as it reconnects. And if you need it unlocked right away with no signal, your lender can arrange an offline unlock code.

Usually not directly. Shops enroll phones; unlocking is handled by your lender's central team. The shop can pass your request on for you, though.

No. Loksiz is built for loan-related device control only. Neither your lender nor Loksiz reads your contacts, messages, call logs, photos or videos.

Retailers and enrollment

Shops get an enrollment-only account in the Loksiz retailer app. You can add and enroll phones at the counter and check their enrollment status. Locking, unlocking, releasing and licence management stay with the lender's central team.

No. Keeping those controls with the central team protects your customers and keeps every action properly authorised and logged.

Licences are allocated to shops by the central team or your reseller. Shops can see how many they have left, but they don't buy, move or cancel licences themselves.

You'll see a confirmation on the phone and the status will change to enrolled in the retailer app. If the status is still showing as “Initiated”, the process isn't finished yet.

No. Only hand the phone to the customer once enrollment is complete on both the phone and the app. A phone that isn't fully enrolled isn't protected.

Note the phone's IMEI and any error message, take a photo of the screen and raise a ticket with support. Enrollment problems are treated as high priority, because there's usually a customer waiting at the counter.

This happens on some phones. Use the alternative enrollment method in your Loksiz enrollment guide, or contact support and we'll walk you through it.

Yes. We provide short video and PDF guides for Android phones, including separate guides for Android Go phones, and we train your staff when you start.

Contact support with the phone's IMEI and what needs fixing, such as a wrong customer or loan number, and the central team will correct it for you.

Repairs and licences

Yes. Raise a support request before the phone goes to the service centre. How quickly it can be done depends partly on the brand's service centre, so we can't promise a fixed time for every case.

Raise a support ticket with the phone's IMEI, the customer's loan number and the service centre's job sheet. We'll confirm what's needed for that brand.

If the replacement has a different IMEI, yes. A licence is linked to one IMEI, so the new phone needs to be enrolled with a new licence.

Then nothing changes. The phone carries on using the same licence.

A DOA replacement usually has a new IMEI, so it needs a new licence. If you think a waiver or credit should apply, talk to your account manager.

That depends on your agreement with Loksiz. Your account manager will confirm it when you sign up.

Factory reset is blocked for the length of the loan. If a phone is reset at a service centre, it has to be re-enrolled: connect it to the internet, enroll it again from the setup screen, and enter the phone's Google account details if asked.

No. A reset isn't a way to release a phone. Only the lender can release it, once the loan is closed.

The customer will need to recover their Google account first. Contact support and we'll help with the next steps.

A factory reset always erases the phone, so customers should back up their photos and contacts before any repair. Re-enrolling on its own doesn't delete anything.

Support

Our support team is available every day with extended hours, and urgent issues are picked up straight away by your dedicated account manager.

Yes, for genuine emergencies. Your account manager handles critical issues outside normal hours.

For larger programs, yes. Tell us your volumes and we'll suggest an arrangement that fits.

It depends on the issue. Enrollment failures, access and API problems, and login or password issues each have their own target time. You'll get the full list of targets with your agreement.

Yes. Anything stopping phones from unlocking, or affecting many customers at once, goes straight to your account manager and our technical team.

You'll be given a named account manager when you sign up, along with phone and email contacts for support.

The phone's IMEI, the customer's loan number, what went wrong and when, and a photo or screenshot of any error. The more detail, the faster we can help.

It's escalated automatically to the next level, and you'll get regular updates until it's fixed.

Head office

Yes. Your head office gets the full Loksiz dashboard, with lock, unlock, release and live device status for every phone, while shops get enrollment-only access.

Yes. Shops can be limited to enrollment, and your central team gets the controls they need. Tell us how your team is set up and we'll match the access to it.

Yes, you can give different people different levels of access, including read-only access for auditors.

Talk to us if you need a two-person approval for sensitive actions. We'll show you how it can be set up for your team.

Yes. You can enroll, lock, unlock or release phones in bulk, or automate it all through our API.

Yes. Every key action is logged with the time and the person or system that did it: enrollment, reminders and notices, restrictions, payments received and unlocks. It's what you'll need if a customer complains or an auditor asks.

Yes, phones can be grouped so each branch or business sees its own portfolio, while head office sees everything.

API and reports

Yes. Loksiz plugs into your loan, POS and payment systems through a REST API and an Android SDK, and our engineers help your team while you integrate.

Enroll devices, sync EMI payments, lock and unlock phones, release them at the end of the loan and check their status, all from your own systems.

Yes. Webhooks keep a phone's status in step with its loan as payments come in, so there's no waiting for overnight batch files.

Yes. When your system confirms a payment, Loksiz unlocks the phone automatically, usually within seconds. Nobody on your team has to press a button.

Yes. You'll get API documentation and a sandbox to build and test against before going live. Teams used to REST APIs usually finish sandbox integration in a week or two.

API problems are handled as a priority by our technical team, and anything affecting unlocks is escalated straight away.

Yes. Reports can be downloaded as Excel files.

Enrollment, lock, unlock and release reports, along with a live view of every device and loan in your dashboard.

Yes, you can filter reports to the period and part of your business you need.

A licence covers one phone for the length of its loan. Your account manager will explain renewal and reuse when you sign up.

A licence is used when a phone is successfully enrolled. If an enrollment fails or is cancelled, talk to support and we'll look at it.

Only what's needed to run the loan safely: device details such as the IMEI and model, enrollment and device status, payment status, and the reminders and actions on that phone.

No. Loksiz is designed for loan-related device control only, and it doesn't read photos, contacts, messages, call logs or anything inside banking apps.

On secure cloud servers. If your organisation has data-residency requirements, tell us and we'll confirm how they're met.

Access is protected by secure logins and API credentials, data is encrypted, and every action is logged. We can share full security details during your review.

Data is kept only as long as it's needed for the loan and your records, and can be deleted at the end of that period in line with your policy and the law.

Before a phone is enrolled, the customer must agree to device management through the loan agreement, and the agreement should explain clearly when and how the phone can be restricted.

The lender checks the payment and account straight away. If it's a mistake, the phone is unlocked immediately, and in India the lender owes ₹250 for every hour of a wrongful restriction, up to the loan amount. Loksiz's records show exactly what happened and when.

The customer should tell their lender straight away. The loan stays with the original borrower, and the lender decides the next steps.

Most Android phones people buy on EMI, including Xiaomi, OPPO, vivo and realme, with native OEM-level locking on itel, Infinix and TECNO. iPhones are supported through Apple Business Manager, and smart TVs through Google TV. We'll confirm your exact models before you start.

Phones keep working normally, and any pending commands are carried out as soon as the service is back. Your account manager will keep you updated throughout.

The lender stays responsible to the customer under the loan rules, and Loksiz supports them with the records and fixes needed. Your agreement with Loksiz sets out who's responsible for what.
